The growing number of TikTok users waking up to find their accounts permanently banned has become a concern for creators and ordinary users alike. While some bans result from violations of TikTok’s Community Guidelines, others may be issued by mistake.
Whatever the reason, a permanent ban doesn’t always mean the end of the TikTok account you have spent years building. You can appeal the decision and request a review.
Here is how to recover a permanently banned TikTok account
#1. Appeal through the TikTok app
If you can still log in, on the permanent ban notification banner, tap Appeal and follow the instructions to submit your appeal.
#2. Appeal through TikTok’s website
If you cannot access your account or submit an appeal through the app, go to TikTok’s Report a problem page.
Under Topic, select “Account Access/Security” and “Banned Account” under Category, then find and click “Unable to appeal through the app?” to open the appeal form.
Fill in the required information, including your TikTok username and contact email address.
In the “Tell us more” field, briefly explain why you believe the ban was issued by mistake. No need to write a lengthy explanation. Something as simple as the below will do:
“My TikTok account was mistakenly banned, and I kindly request a review of the decision. I believe my account was banned in error and would appreciate an opportunity to have it reinstated.”
If you have screenshots or other supporting evidence, attach them to strengthen your appeal.
Finally, accept the two declarations and submit.
If, by good luck, your account is restored, possibly within a few days, watch out for content involving violence, dangerous stunts, sexual, and other prohibited materials. Be equally cautious of automated or bot-driven follows, likes and comments, which can trigger TikTok’s enforcement systems.
No need to appeal if it’s a temporary TikTok ban; these last 24 to 48 hours.
