Rapper Rich Homie Quan’s untimely death at the age of 33 has left fans and the music industry in shock. An autopsy was conducted on Friday, but the official cause of death remains undetermined pending further tests.
The Fulton County medical examiner in Georgia confirmed that the examination was completed just one day after the artist, born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, passed away at an Atlanta hospital on September 5, 2024.
“The cause and manner of death are pending the completion of laboratory studies and microscopic examination of tissue slides,” the medical examiner noted in a statement. It remains uncertain when the tests will be finalised, as this process can take time.
Reports revealed that Atlanta police responded to a medical emergency call at a Hamden Forest Drive SW residence at around 11:20 a.m. on Thursday. Records indicate the property is linked to the late rapper, and 911 calls disclosed that first responders were summoned after Lamar’s girlfriend Amber Williams found him unconscious on a couch.
Rich Homie Quan, an Atlanta native, first rose to prominence in the early 2010s, achieving major success with his 2013 hit single “Type of Way.” His 2015 song “Flex” reached No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100.
As a member of the music group Rich Gang, Quan produced several hits and gained recognition as a solo artist throughout the 2010s.
