Anita Among House Arrest
Former Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among remains under strict house arrest at her Nakasero residence, with reports indicating she is gravely ill with severe leg swelling and a suspected blood clot, and has been denied permission to seek treatment abroad.
Erias Lukwago at Mulago Hospital
Opposition figure and former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, facing charges including misprision of treason, was on Thursday, 25 June 2026, transferred to Mulago National Referral Hospital for specialised treatment after his health deteriorated in detention.
Despite doctors’ recommendations for treatment in India, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on 27 June 2026, stated in a tweet: “Lukwago can be as SICK as he can pretend! He is going NOWHERE! If he wants to die, I will take responsibilty!” Access to Erias Lukwago remains heavily restricted.
NTV Uganda, Spark TV, & Daily Monitor Shutdown
Muhoozi ordered the shutdown of NTV Uganda and the Daily Monitor on 27 June 2026, with military forces laying siege to Nation Media Group premises in the early hours of 28 June 2026, forcing all its outlets, including NTV Uganda, Spark TV, 90.4 Dembe FM and 93.3 FM, off air.
NMG MD Susan Nsibirwa Hunted
