If you’re paying around UGX 90,000 a month for fibre internet, this is for you.
Not a review or a paid piece, …hear me out. Airtel Uganda is currently running a promotion for new customers joining its SmartConnect Fibre internet service.
For UGX 99,000, you get two months of uncapped, unlimited fibre internet. The package comes with speeds of up to 100 Mbps, free installation, and a power bank to keep you connected when UEDCL decides to do its usual thing. According to the representative…, Airtel fibre installation is within 24 hours.
But is that enough to ditch your current internet service provider for Airtel? There’s only one way to find out: compare your existing fiber subscription cost with Airtel’s offer.
Zuku Fibre Uganda: UGX 75,000 per month for 75 Mbps or UGX 89,400 for 100 Mbps
CanalBox: UGX 90,000 per month for 100 Mbps, following its recent price update
FaibaNet: UGX 99,000 per month for 80 Mbps
Simba Fiber: UGX 120,000 per month for 100 Mbps.
Why Consider SmartConnect Fibre Promotion?
For practically the same amount you’d spend renewing for another month with your current provider, you get two months of internet. Think of it as a low-risk opportunity to weigh Airtel’s actual speed, reliability and customer support against your current provider.
If Airtel wins you over and you decide to stick around after the promotion, here are the packages.
Airtel SmartConnect Fiber Subscription Rates
| Price | Validity | Speed |
| UGX 99,000 | 30 days | 100 Mbps |
| UGX 270,000 | 90 days | 100 Mbps |
| UGX 500,000 | 180 days | 100 Mbps |
At the same rates above, Airtel SmartConnect WiFi offers speeds of up to 60 Mbps, capped.
SmartConnect WiFi & SmartConnect Fibre: What Is the Difference?
Though both are advertised on the flyer, Airtel SmartConnect WiFi is a separate service from SmartConnect Fibre. It uses a wireless outdoor unit (ODU) that is mounted outside the house to connect to an indoor Wi-Fi router. A single cable runs from the outdoor unit to the router inside.

SmartConnect WiFi has one advantage: it doesn’t require a fibre cable to reach your home. It’s wireless with nationwide coverage. However, installation costs about UGX 20,000 to UGX 25,000, depending on the arrangement.
The main differences become apparent when you compare it with the new fibre package. SmartConnect Wi-Fi runs at speeds of up to 60 Mbps, compared with the SmartConnect fibre’s 100 Mbps. It also doesn’t include the power bank or the two-month promotional offer.
According to the Airtel representative, the promotion aims to migrate SmartConnect Wi-Fi users in fibre-covered areas to SmartConnect fibre, while also onboarding new subscribers.
Existing SmartConnect Wi-Fi users switching to fibre still qualify as new subscribers for the promotion.
