Tecno Spark Go 2 vs Spark Go 1 & 1S: Is It Worth Upgrading in 2025?

Tecno Spark Go 2 vs Tecno Spark Go 1 & 1S

Around this time last year, I had the chance to get my hands on one of the Tecno Spark Go phones. Quite an improvement from what the brand had been known for. These brands, Tecno and Infinix, have really pushed the limits of functionality and design while staying true to their core audience, budget-conscious users.

Each year, there’s a model that targets the high-end user, offering features that rival established players like Samsung and Apple’s iPhone. At the same time, release entry-level versions to give users a taste of those flagship experiences.

“Cheap phones are getting good. And good phones are getting cheap.” – MKBHD

This month, in June 2025, Tecno officially launched the Spark Go 2 in key markets like India and Bangladesh, the latest iteration in this popular series. The Spark Go series began in 2019 and saw annual refreshes (e.g., Spark Go 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) until the Spark Go 1 (Q3 2024), which introduced a clear numerical naming of the line. This was followed by Tecno Spark Go 1s (early 2025) and now Tecno Spark Go 2, also referred to as Tecno Spark Go 2025.

Like many devices lately, the Spark Go 2 comes with AI-powered features and an improved IP64 rating, meaning it’s dust-tight and resistant to water splashes. Most notably, its design closely mirrors Apple’s iPhone 16, which is probably the reason behind all the attention and, frankly, why it’s worth writing about.

But is the Spark Go 2 a meaningful upgrade, or just a rebrand with a flashier, iPhone-inspired design? How does it stack up against its predecessors, the Spark Go 1 and Spark Go 1S? If you’re already using one of those, should you consider upgrading, or even switching from your current phone?

Why Upgrade to the Tecno Spark Go 2?
If you’re using the Spark Go 1 or 1S, here’s what makes the Tecno Spark Go 2 a better pick:

Faster Performance
It runs on the Unisoc T7250, faster than the T615 (Go 1) and Helio G50 (1S). Apps load quicker, and switching between them feels smoother.

More Storage Options
Up to 256GB internal storage, compared to 128GB max on previous models.

Latest Software
The only one running Android 15 with HiOS 15, offering newer features and better performance.

Improved Protection
Now rated IP64, with better resistance against dust and water than the older IP54.

Smarter Features
Includes Ella AI, AI Writing, and Linkbooming, missing in earlier versions.

Smoother Display
The 120Hz refresh rate returns, dropped in the 1S. Scrolling and animations feel better.

Same Battery, Smarter Use
Still 5000mAh with 15W charging, but runs more efficiently on Android 15.
