The A Pass Live in concert—A Pass’ very first solo music show—will be going down on January 31 at the prestigious Kampala Serena Hotel, his website and social media announced. The event should mark a significant milestone in the artiste’s career, celebrating over a decade of musical achievements and growth. Furthermore, the long-awaited concert promises to be an unforgettable night for the fans, showcasing A Pass’ unique blend of reggae, dancehall, and afro-pop. Fans can expect an electrifying atmosphere as he performs his greatest hits and new material, creating a memorable experience for all attendees.

The Didadada star, Alexander Bagonza, has established himself as one of Uganda’s most versatile and celebrated artists. Born on December 21, 1989, in Kampala, he began his musical journey in church choirs and school performances. His breakthrough came with the release of “Tuli Kubigere” in 2014, which catapulted him into the limelight.

Over the years, A Pass has released four music albums—“Nva Kampala” (2016) and “African Yayo” (2018), Bagonza (2024) and the freshest one on the shelf, A Pass—and numerous hit singles that have resonated with audiences both locally and internationally. His collaborations with renowned artists—Bebe Cool, Ykee Benda, and Konshens, further solidify his status in the industry. He sings about anything and everything!

The artiste (and sometimes unofficial comedian)’s journey in the music industry is not a mystery; it has been marked by resilience that is much needed in these dusty streets of Kampala. After forming a partnership with video director Lukyamuzi Bashir, he was introduced to Badi Musik Production, which became instrumental in producing his music. Though this tie broke in 2016, it had introduced to us one of the creamiest artistes this country will ever see.

Throughout his career, A Pass has been known for his lyrical depth and creativity. He has penned numerous hits, including “Tuli Kubigere,” and “Am Loving,” a song he remixed with Don MC and Cindy. His songwriting prowess extends beyond his own music; he has also written for various artists like Lillian Mbabazi on Memories feature, showcasing his versatility and understanding of the craft. Popular knowledge has it that he penned most songs on Bebe Cool’s 2015 Go Mama, an album that had all the Midas touch to take Cool global.

A Pass is recognized as an uptown artist, well-read and organized in his approach to music production and promotion. He stands out as one of the most streamed artists online in Uganda, leveraging social media and his Official website to promote his brand, a thing many on the entertainment platform praise and troll him for in the same breathe. Take, for instance, Lil Pazzo; he has time and again publicly thrown shades at A Pass regarding his 40-track music album Bagonza because, according to him and Galaxy FM’s DJ Nimrod, the album did not relate well with Uganda’s laymen, hence purported low-income from the work. This opinion seems to have been a result of the overshadowing effect of the 2024 monster hit Enkudi, which kept Pazzo oblivious to the success of Bagonza.

That aside A Pass boasts of a stronger and steadier foundation than Pazzo could articulate, including hits that were relatable with the common Ugandan—Mariana, Dididadada, Turn Up Di Vibe with Ykee Benda, Mummy, and the less hyped Nah Normal with Radio and Weasel. So there, A Pass has a full popular catalogue that would be suitable for your usual Nakamatte and Ssekyanzi from Bwaise who might love to sing along, as well as those very beautiful yet less popular jams that are sweet for the ear and the mind of that Bugolobi, Ntinda, Kiwatule fella!

As A Pass takes the stage on January 31st 2025, fans will not only witness a remarkable performance but also participate in a celebration of Ugandan culture and music. This concert is set to be a defining moment in A Pass’s career and a memorable night for all who attend.

To ensure a memorable experience for fans, A Pass has secured strategic partnerships with Fenon Events, and major sponsors, including Next Media (known for its recent concert advertising partnerships with musicians), MTN Uganda and I&M Bank.

MTN Uganda is playing a crucial role as an official sponsor, leveraging its extensive reach and influence to promote the concert. The partnership aligns with MTN’s commitment to supporting local talent and enhancing community engagement through music. This collaboration not only amplifies A Pass’s visibility but also provides logistical support for the event, ensuring that everything runs smoothly on concert day.

Raymond Kakuru, the Events and Brands Officer at I&M Bank, expressed enthusiasm for supporting this landmark event, stating that it aligns with their vision of providing enriching experiences for customers. The bank aims to connect with its clientele outside traditional banking environments, offering them an opportunity to unwind and enjoy a night of exceptional music.

According to the Events in Uganda website, the concert will take place at the Kampala Serena Hotel, located at 7814 Kintu Road, Kampala. Known for its luxurious ambience and excellent facilities, the venue is ideal for hosting high-profile events like this concert.
